When I got done riding today, I realized I did not take any pictures. So I will just have to describe the happenings. Basically, too long climbs and two long descents. The ride profile on Strava looks cool. The first climb was gradual. Part of it was up-valley followed by the steeper climb to the pass. After a nice descent, I had a cheeseburger for lunch and begin the second climb. Brutal. Steep. Hot. The last mile of the climb brought a cloud which covered the sun. The descent started with big raindrops coming out of that cloud. The rain was like a gift from heaven! Screamed the descent to 5 miles outside of Dayville when the rain came in a downpour. Sagged the last 5 miles into Dayville.
Wildlife. In the valleys I got chased by a lot of those pesky red-winged blackbirds. Saw four deer running in a grass field toward me and the road. When they realized I was there, two of them turned around and the other two veered off and ran ahead so as to cross the road well in front of me. The lead deer made a graceful leap over the fence but the second one decided to go through the strands of barb wire. That is one tough/dumb deer .
Oregon has a lot of snakes. Must have been two dozen dead ones on the road today. Most smashed into oblivion by car and truck tires.
