Wow! What a difference a day makes. Upper respiratory illness is better, though not 100% yet. Temperatures have dropped dramatically. Rode with arm warmers all morning and leg warmers for half the morning. Makes the work of riding seem just like work and not torture.
Rode through some great expanses of eastern Oregon.
Crossed the Snake River and unceremoniously entered Idaho at Brownlee Dam. Long climb out of the Brownlee reservoir and over an unnamed pass before a nice descent into Cambridge, Idaho. Nice cattle and hay ranches here in Cambridge. It is pretty and remote. Fair to say it is pretty remote.
Now that I have left Oregon, a word about Oregon drivers. The vast majority of them are super nice to cyclists. They stop for you at crosswalks. They move way over when passing. They even slow down to let oncoming traffic clear before passing! One driver, in particular, slowed down to my speed as I lost the shoulder I was riding on at a narrow bridge. They crossed the bridge behind me, at my speed, and did not pass until I was safely on the shoulder again. Must have taken a good 25 to 30 seconds out of their day.
Tomorrow I lose Jerry when Rhonda and Diane arrive. It will be interesting to see how everything functions in the Cousin Eddie Mobile with mixed genders and three people.
