Started the day with a long climb up Santiam Pass. Thick, dark, cool forest lined to the first half of the climb. I'm sure Sasquatch was lurking in the trees beside me. Gradually the forest gave way to lava flows and then to a burned area near the summit.
The heat came back, again. After a long descent I stopped for a bacon cheeseburger in Sisters. The mountains gave way too hot dry farmland.
When the temperature on my bike computer showed 104°, I threw in the towel for the day. OK, the bike computer was in the sun but so was I!
